Martial Arts Workshops

 

Our martial arts workshops offer the opportunity for you to energize, inspire and challenge your colleagues. Not only will workshops help to build on valuable team skills they will also challenge particpants on an individual, physical and emotional level. The skills that you will take with you from our courses can and should be adapted in to daily life. A good understanding of physical combat and self-defence translates into improved self-esteem, confidence and self-awareness, all essential traits for successful, happy and innovative people.

 

We have carefully developed three basic workshops that draw on the powerful history of these ancient arts to underline and draw out the skills you want in your company.

All of our workshops are tailored to suit your fitness levels and can be customized for small and large groups. The workshops aren't just for companies but can be a great opportunity and learning experiences for students, friends and even families!

 

 

Fight Back!

An intense anti-stress workshop covering the basics of Kung Fu fighting.

 

We all have days when we'd like to get our own back and in this workshop you'll be giving as good as you get!

The workshop begins with a brief insight into the history of Shaolin Kung Fu.  You'll be introduced to the basic concepts of the style that you will be practicing later on. Then it's straight on to an intense warm up, guaranteed to get everybody in the mood for some serious Kung Fu fighting! Once everybody is warmed up you'll be given the basic techniques in attacking, punching, kicking and defending. You'll be practicing in couples and as a group. When everybody is comfortable with these techniques we really turn up the heat! Each participant will choose their opponent and engage with them in a (fully protected) free fight! Guaranteed to knock stress right out of the ring!

 

The day will culminate in a special demonstration of full Kung Fu forms by your teacher. You'll also get to see what happens in a real full contact free fight!

Stand Up!

A workshop specially designed to improve self-assertiveness and give valuable self-defence skills.

 

Self-defence is an essential skill. We all need to know how to look after our selves not just physically but mentally too. A strong mental self-defence will help you to overcome obstacles in your daily life. This is a two-part workshop that will impart practical skills to ensure you're mentally and physically prepared for anything.

The first part of the workshop focuses on self-defence. You'll be introduced to the basic principles of self-defence and martial arts. You'll then be taught the most effective self-defence techniques and tricks from a mix of Kung Fu and other martial arts.  You'll learn what to do to defend yourself against a bigger or stronger adversary and which techniques are more effective for women and which for men. You will also learn about how to defend yourself by knowing what parts of the human body are most vulnerable, how to defend yourself against forced restraint and strangulation and much more. To ensure that you walk away from this course with practical knowledge you'll be pairing off and enacting effective and destructive techniques involving: kicks, punches, locks, throws and ground fighting.

 

The second part of the workshop is concerned with mental self-defence. You'll be shown how to develop techniques that will effectively help you to overcome mental obstacles like stress or anxiety. You'll learn a variety of mental exercises and meditations to help you build a strong inner armoury that will make preparing for a big meeting, presentation or public appearance an enjoyable process.

Recharge!

Find the path to enlightenment with this workshop that focuses on improving performance and team building with Qi Gong and meditation.

 

 

Finding Inner balance in daily life at work is a recognizable issue these days. Stress is something most of us just put up with during the day and try to tackle in our 'down time'. This relaxing and dynamic workshop will focus on time tested meditative exercises to help you find your inner balance. These exercises and breathing techniques are skills you can build in to your busy day and will help you to gain perspective and tranquillity whether your stuck in traffic or preparing for an important meeting. You don't need to wait until you're overstressed to give yourself some time. By discovering how to process your thoughts and emotions through meditation stress won't overtake your life. You'll find you have improved concentration and suddenly realize you can add hours to your day but taking just a few minutes for yourself! Knowing how to stop and recharge your tired mind is something we all need to know how to do in the hectic lifestyle today's choices demand.

 

Through this workshop you will also find that the techniques you'll be taught will help build group energy. By practising Qi Gong in group form you experience the flow and building of energy that comes from working in perfect harmony. As you feel the communication flowing without words, personal and group tensions will fall away leaving you all with a sense of peace and purpose.
